About

I'm Federico Torres. I've been working in IT infrastructure for more than 15 years, specifically in networking and security. Most of my time goes into designing and running data center networks: physical fabric, overlays, firewalls, SD-WAN, and connecting all of it to the cloud. Along the way I've worked with Cisco, Aruba, Dell, Fortinet and VMware, and learned to tell what belongs to the vendor from what belongs to the network.

I work at Wetcom, on network infrastructure and security projects for enterprise clients. I'm a VCF Knight in NSX, and day to day I work with NSX, AVI, micro-segmentation and the protocols that never go away.

Why this blog

There is very little serious material on data center networking in Spanish. There's product documentation, which is fine but assumes you already know what you're looking for, and there are certification courses, which teach you to pass an exam. What's missing is the middle: why a design decision goes one way and not the other, and what breaks when it goes wrong.

That's what I write. Notes drawn from real cases, always anonymized, with the full technical detail. The original is in Spanish; selected notes are translated here.

What I work on

  • Data center fabric design and migration, including EVPN/VXLAN.
  • NSX: overlay, distributed routing, distributed firewall and edges.
  • AVI: load balancers, WAF and GSLB.
  • Hybrid connectivity between the data center and public cloud.
  • SD-WAN: design, deployment and troubleshooting.
  • Micro-segmentation and firewall policy review.

The full track record is on my LinkedIn profile.
